Newton County YAT Welcomes German Exchange Students at March Social

Before a group of German exchange students set foot on the campus of Newton College and Career Academy, the Newton County Youth Action Team made sure they felt welcome first.

On March 1, 2026, eight YAT members hosted a social event for 15 German students, bringing their signature energy to a fun and meaningful meet-and-greet. YAT members led icebreakers, facilitated conversations, and organized activities designed to help the visiting students get comfortable in a new environment. Games like ladder toss and Connect Four kept things lighthearted while giving students from two very different places the chance to connect.

The event was a natural fit for the YAT, whose mission centers on community building and youth engagement. Eleven participants total — YAT members and adult advisors combined — made the afternoon a success and set a welcoming tone ahead of the German students' visit to NCCA.
