Newton County YAT Members Staff the 2026 Georgia Teen Institute

We're so proud of our Youth Action Team! Eight Newton County YAT members stepped up as GTI Staff at this year's Georgia Teen Institute, held Monday, June 8 — reaching an estimated 250 people through their efforts.

A group of our YAT staff put together an adult advisor workshop, sharing what they've learned running their own annual Kick the Habit prevention event so other communities can build something similar. Four YAT members and two advisors also joined a panel discussion, and five more YAT staff rolled up their sleeves to work directly with teens from other Youth Action Teams, showing them how to bring interactive prevention activities to life.

It's a great reminder of what's possible when we invest in youth leadership — these students aren't just attending events anymore, they're helping run them.
