Youth Action Team Volunteers at Sounds of Support 2025 | Promoting Mental Health and Prevention in Newton County

πŸ’š Youth Leading the Way in Mental Health Awareness

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, members of the Youth Action Team (YAT) joined community partners from the Drug-Free Communities Coalition (DFCC) to volunteer at Sounds of Support 2025, a large-scale community event focused on mental health, substance abuse prevention, and suicide awareness.

With 18 YAT members and adult advisors participating, the team helped host prevention education tables, share local resources, and engage families in meaningful conversations about support and wellness.

🌟 Building Awareness Through Action

The event drew nearly 200 attendees and created opportunities for youth to connect with organizations committed to health and resilience in Newton County. By volunteering alongside DFCC partners, YAT members helped reduce stigma around mental health and encouraged open dialogue among peers and families.

πŸ’¬ A Shared Mission

The Newton Community Partnership, through YAT and DFCC, continues to champion prevention, mental health awareness, and youth empowerment. Events like Sounds of Support show what’s possible when young people take the lead in building a healthier, more connected community.
