🌟 Empowering Youth Voices Across Georgia

On Saturday, August 23, 2025, six members of the Youth Action Team (YAT) represented Newton County as part of the Georgia Teen State Executive Council at the annual DFCS Youth Summit. The event brought together youth leaders from across the state to discuss mental health, leadership, and ways to strengthen youth engagement in their communities.

💬 Building Connections and Leadership Skills

Throughout the day, participants engaged in small group discussions and interactive activities designed to foster collaboration and peer support. YAT members shared insights, learned from other youth teams, and strengthened their commitment to advocating for wellness and positive change in Newton County.

👥 Attendance and Impact

The DFCS Youth Summit hosted approximately 75 participants statewide, including six YAT members and one adult advisor, NCP’s own Noelle West. While no new members attended this event, returning YAT members deepened their leadership experience and expanded their network of peers dedicated to youth wellness and engagement.
